- DSVD stands for Digitial Simultanous Voice over Data. It was
- developped by a number of companies (Multitech seems to have been the
- leader of the pack, or at least they've been bragging about all the
- patents they hold for DSVD). If you have two DSVD modems connected to
- each other, you can then just pick up the phone connected to one of these
- modems, the phone connected to the other modem will ring, and then you can
- have a (voice) conversation with whoever is on the other end WHILE data is
- still beign transfered by the modems (at a reduced speed of course). I
- believe that it will only run over a v.34 connection (of course, even if
- it will run with another protocol, all the DSVD modems on the market
- support v.34 so why would you want to run anything else?). Note, this
- will NOT let you dial out to just anyone while you're connected, it's ONLY
- for talking to the person on the other end of the connection.
